Our Story

So how did the Cranmer Institute come to be? It happened somewhere in between collaborating and communicating through our teacher training arms (The Northern Alliance, which was our Teaching School Alliance, through Manchester Nexus, our SCITT and then through East Manchester Teaching School Hub) and the partnerships we made there over many years, truly working together across our region and beyond; and through the growth of the Cranmer Education Trust schools and our people. We are realising more than ever how deeply empowering it is for us to work across our schools, in teaching, in leadership, in teaching support and in business support. We eliminate silos, and through alignment in our organisation we elevate our people. It is through this journey that the Cranmer Institute was born.

It’s in moments like staff being promoted to careers in our new Free School, Brian Clarke, or the IT team creating IT platforms which connect our schools virtually, or when our SCITT trainees become teachers and later move on to become mentors themselves. It is in these, and many more moments like them, that the magic happens. And it is so exciting to know that as we continue our mission together, we are only just getting started.
